5 Signs It’s Time to Replace Brake Pads

On a sunny summer day, you're driving down the highway at 100 km/h, and suddenly you notice that something appears in front of you. Depending on your reaction, the speed of pressing the brakes, and the extent of your interest in maintaining the brakes constantly, and in standard conditions, your car will travel about 100 meters after pressing the brakes before stopping permanently.

The brakes may not be one of the most attractive parts of the car, but they are undoubtedly important. Paying attention to the warning signs indicates the importance of going to the repair shop to check the brakes, maybe the difference between life and death while driving on the road.

There are certainly some obvious signs that the brakes need maintenance, such as lighting the brake bulb on your vehicle's dashboard or feeling that the car takes longer to stop than it should when you press the brakes.

However, some other signs could indicate problems with the brake system. So, let's get to know 5 of the most important signs!

Brakes Corrosion

Most brake systems in cars use what is known as brake discs. When the brakes are pressed, the hydraulic system filled the brake fluid triggers a set of padded clamps, causing them to compress together on a disc known as the "rotary brake disc".

Friction between the lining and the disc stops the vehicle or slows it down at the driver's will and the extent of the brake pressure. Over time, however, the lining will begin to erode, reducing its effectiveness in slowing down and stopping the vehicle.

You can check the thickness and corrosion of the brake lining by looking between the frame openings to see where the shiny metal disc is inside. as smooth and soft as possible. For example, if you notice some bumps, it's time to change it. If your tire design doesn't allow you to see it directly, you must take off the tire.

Brake Pedal Vibrations

If you suddenly have to press the brakes in an emergency and are operating an antilock system, you'll feel quick vibration in the brake, which comes from the tight grips that the system applies to the turntable to slow down the car.

However, suppose these vibrations occur under normal conditions, every time you use the brakes. In that case, this may indicate a problem with the brake system. in general, vibrations indicate in the turntable, as its uneven surface causes the brake lining to collide. You will feel these vibrations through the brake pedal.

The turntable is usually distorted only when under extreme pressure for an extended period.

So, if you haven't strained the brake disc recently but feel vibrations in the pedal, there may be an imbalance in the tires.

Change in the Brake Pedal Status

In addition to vibrations, the brake pedal may show other indications that your vehicle's brake system may need to be checked. For example, there is a softer pedal state, which needs to be pressed hard at the end for the brakes to work.

On the contrary, there is a state of pedal stiffness, in which it is challenging to press. So, you'll need to check the brake condition at the maintenance workshop in both cases.

Strange Sounds‎

‎One warning sign, which indicates the brake need for maintenance, can come with a small indicator integrated into your car's brake system, ‎‎emitting a high-pitched squeak‎‎ when the lining is damaged and needs to be replaced.‎

‎In addition to the squeaking sound from the cursor, you'll also need to listen well and notice a sound like the sound of harsh grinding. This means that the brake lining has completely eroded, and now when you press the brakes, the metal of the clamp’s grinds into the turntable metal.‎

‎Some other squeak sounds may require checking the brake condition, as you may need to clean, lubricate or adjust, and possibly change some internal pieces.‎

Tow the Car to One Side

‎If you feel the car is‎‎ ‎‎being pulled to the right or left side‎‎ when the brakes are pressed, this may indicate brake system problems.‎

‎It may be because one of the clamps is stuck, and because in this case, there will be friction on one frame and not on the other tires, the car can be towed to the side of the clamp.‎

‎Damage to the brake hose may also cause the clamp to move unevenly when the brakes are pressed, dragging the vehicle to one side.‎

‎However, it should be noted that clouds do not always indicate a problem with the brake system; they can also be caused by uneven tire inflation or corrosion. So, when you feel this draw, you must go to the maintenance workshop to diagnose the natural causes and treat the problem.‎

‎In the end, it's essential to pay attention to signals that may indicate brake system problems. Once you sense any of these warning signs, be sure to bring your vehicle down to Lebanese Europe Auto Parts Center and get the appropriate consultation or replacements you might need.
